Short Story: Shadow

Chasing Ricky Martin!

You know where you stand precisely in any relation when you are that girl in the Ricky Martin song. The girl who is probably lost in the streets at night (for the way she wanders aimlessly). Meanwhile Ricky Martin is inside a magnificent majestic mansion. Elegant in a fancy outfit he looks away in SLOW-MO and everything. (Damn, this guy looks the same since we were in primary school!) Anyhow she is still walking on the freeway. Then she falls on the footpath and plays with her hair. Seriously though, her entire strategy is wrecked.

Just go home girl that lying on the roadside is more bizarre than sexy. Don’t bother; Ricky is busy staring at exceptional dancing-girls crawling in his palace anyway. Few minutes later Ricky is on the rooftop with other guys yelling ‘Frio o O o…!’ see? He is having a good time. Being all boyish with one hand in the pocket, he steps forward to make his point clear. However on your end, you start to think it’s their company you crave. In reality, you only develop this overpowering urge to eliminate this distance. Why? Mostly to feed your ego, to prove you can get anything you want. In short it’s our deep-rooted arrogance we are entirely unconscious of.  Worst part is it’s done in the name of love, or in the name of friendship.

Now if you are that one person giving-your-all for the delusional fairytale. Be wise enough to stop trading rare things like tranquility and sanity for redundant trauma. It’s not worth all that hard work, dear. For in the end Ricky stands next to those dancing girls…
